Full Time | Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £44,000 per annum + Pension
Location: Stevenage

Are you a passionate and dedicated educator with experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the ability to engage, inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential?

We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Tutor to join a highly successful Supported Studies team, delivering high-quality teaching and learning to students aged 16-24 with a range of additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping learners develop the confidence, independence and employability skills they need for adulthood, further education and future employment.

The Role

As an SEN Tutor, you will plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and learner-focused programmes that meet the individual needs of students with SEND. Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will create a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.

You will use a variety of teaching strategies to support learners of varying abilities, helping them develop key life skills, independence and the confidence to progress towards their future goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality teaching and learning programmes for learners with SEND.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Support students in developing independent living, personal and employability skills.
  • Monitor, assess and record learner progress, ensuring positive outcomes are achieved.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement activities.
  • Motivate and inspire learners to achieve their individual targets and ambitions.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience teaching learners with SEND, learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational abilities.
  • A creative and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
  • The ability to engage and motivate learners with varying abilities and starting points.
  • A commitment to inclusion, equality and learner success.
  • A positive, proactive and collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.
